Secret Dolomites CYCLING TourS

Alter Exploration Dolomites cycling tours offer the sheer grandeur of Alta Badia’s finest backroads, alpine passes, and meadows.

The stunning climbs and secret backroads of the Dolomites might very well be the greatest place on earth to ride bikes. We certainly think so.

Our founder, Chris Case, has been traveling to the Dolomites for more than 20 years, befriending legendary locals who have shown him all the best terrain, from the iconic paved climbs made famous in the Giro d’Italia to the secret network of gravel tracks and meadow trails that lead you to solitude on sinuous switchbacks.

From our home base in Alta Badia, you’ll quickly discover why the staggering natural beauty of the Dolomites is unsurpassed as a cycling destination. (It’s not bad for trail running and hiking either!)

Welcome to cycling paradise.

A transcendent Dolomites cycling adventure awaits you on the hidden roads of Alta Badia.

What’s Not Included

  • Flights to and from the destination
  • Travel insurance (recommended)
  • Sports nutrition on rides. We recommend you bring your own supply, if you have a strong preference for a particular brand.
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Our local knowledge means you’ll always have a partner to help you find the perfect café stop, bike shop for gear or repairs, and restaurants throughout your stay.

Important Things to Note

  • This trip is most suitable for a gravel/all-road bike, though a disc-brake road bike would also suffice. Your bike should be fit with a minimum of 28mm tires, and depending on the final itinerary, up to 45mm gravel tires. Ideally your bike would have a very large range of gears, either compact chainrings and an 11-34+ cassette, or a single-ring setup with a large-range cassette. 1:1 is often not enough for the steep climbs in the region.
  • Dolomites cycling tours are limited to 4 guests unless special arrangements have been made.
  • Read our FAQs for more information on Alter trips.
  • Read our Terms & Conditions for more information on payment and cancellation policies.
